During DesignMarch 2012, Aurora Design Fund is collaborating with the Iceland Design Center on documenting the DesignMarch and co curating the exhibition "Best of DesignMarch so far" with Form Magazine for Nordic Design and Architecture, presenting highlights from DesignMarch’s first three years.

First held in 2009, DesignMarch offers a unique view to what design can be.
In Iceland, the design community is small and its supporting infrastructure – the furniture industry and the home market –practically non-existent. Looking at the highlights on display here, it is clear that this has not deterred designers and architects from working – they have just found new, innovative partners: The Food industry and farmers in the case of Skyrkonfekt and Leirpottur, or the
general public for architects as in KRADS PLAYTIME installation and Borghildur. DesignMarch events have also shown a previously unknown past of Icelandic design. To many of us, Reykjavik Rewind was something of an awakening.
By showing a selection of some of the best products that were launched during the past three years’ festivals alongside the most memorable events, exhibitions and interesting new voices, our ambition is to both remind us all of the impact this young festival has had, the quality and varitey that have characterized it and to inspire the many talented Icelandic designers and architects to surpass these past achievements in DesignMarches to come.
